Summary:
UST is looking for Data Center Architect.
Key Roles & Responsibilities:
- Design and document standardized rack configurations, incorporating best practices for power, cooling, and cabling.
- Develop and maintain rack deployment plans, including detailed specifications for hardware, power, and network connectivity.
- Collaborate with data center operations teams to implement rack deployments, ensuring adherence to design specifications and safety protocols, resulting in zero critical incidents related to rack infrastructure.
- Conduct thermal analysis using CFD tools to optimize rack cooling strategies and identify potential hotspots. Reduce PUE through optimized rack design and cooling solutions.
- Evaluate and select rack hardware components, including servers, network equipment, and power distribution units (PDUs), based on performance, reliability, and cost-effectiveness.
- Develop and maintain documentation on rack standards, deployment procedures, and troubleshooting guides.
- Troubleshoot rack-related issues, including power failures, network connectivity problems, and thermal anomalies, reducing mean time to repair (MTTR).
- Monitor rack power usage and cooling performance using DCIM tools, identifying areas for optimization and efficiency improvements.
- Contribute to capacity planning efforts by providing accurate rack space and power availability data.
Required Skills:
- Thermal Management - CFD simulations, airflow optimization
- Power Distribution - UPS systems, Branch Circuit Monitoring (BCM), power density calculations
- Rack Design - Server chassis selection, cable management, equipment layout
- Data Center Infrastructure Management (DCIM) Tools - Nlyte, Sunbird
- Cabling Standards - ANSI/TIA-568, Ethernet cabling, fiber optic cabling
- Networking Fundamentals - TCP/IP, VLANs, network topologies Physical Security - Access control systems, surveillance systems
- Technical writing, presentation skills, stakeholder management
- Root cause analysis, troubleshooting complex issues
Desired Skills:
- Experience with overall data center design and infrastructure planning
- Good experience in power, cooling, networking principles.
Qualification:
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field.
- 7+ years of experience in datacenter infrastructure design and implementation, with a focus on rack systems.
- Deep understanding of datacenter power, cooling, and networking principles.
- Experience with CFD software for thermal analysis (e.g., 6SigmaET, FloTHERM).
- Familiarity with DCIM tools (e.g., Nlyte, Sunbird).
- Knowledge of industry standards such as ANSI/TIA-942.
- Strong project management and communication skills.
- Certifications such as Registered Communications Distribution Designer (RCDD) or Certified Data Centre Professional (CDCP) are a plus.
