Role Overview

Data Modeler

Key Responsibilities

Design and develop conceptual, logical, and physical data models for OLTP and OLAP systems.
Work with business and technical teams to translate requirements into scalable data architectures.
Develop and maintain data dictionaries, metadata, and data lineage documentation.
Optimize data models for query performance, scalability, and maintainability.
Collaborate with Data Engineers, Architects, and Analysts to implement models in GCP-based data platforms (e.g., BigQuery, Cloud SQL, Cloud Spanner).
Conduct data profiling, data quality checks, and impact analysis for schema changes.
Ensure data modeling best practices, governance, and compliance standards.
Use Erwin Data Modeler (or equivalent tools) for data modeling, version control, and model management.

Required Skills & Experience

10+ years of overall experience in
data modeling and database design
.
Strong expertise in
OLTP and OLAP systems
with deep understanding of
normalized and denormalized modeling techniques
.
Hands-on experience with
GCP data services
(BigQuery, Cloud SQL, Spanner, Pub/Sub, Dataflow, etc.).
Proficiency in
Erwin Data Modeler
(or similar tools).
Strong knowledge of
SQL, performance tuning, and query optimization
.
Experience working in
data warehouse, data lake, and cloud-based environments
.
Familiarity with
ETL/ELT frameworks and data pipelines
.
Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
