Description
As a Business Intelligence Developer at UnitedHealth Group, you will play a key role in transforming data into meaningful insights that drive operational excellence. You will be responsible for designing, developing, testing, and deploying data solutions that support business leaders and workforce management analysts. By leveraging tools such as Fabric, PowerBI, DAX, and SQL, you will own the end-to-end data analytics lifecycle. Your collaboration across teams will help maintain and enhance existing data pipelines, ensuring data reliability and adherence to SLAs. Your innovative mindset will introduce new data solutions, metrics, and reporting frameworks to improve analytical offerings and deliver actionable outcomes. **Primary Responsibilities:** - Collaborate with stakeholders to assess and interpret business needs, translating data requirements into technical specifications and functional design documents - Build and maintain scalable, reusable semantic data models using PowerBI, DAX, and Power Query (M) to ensure data integrity, security, performance, and quality - Develop, distribute, and maintain scalable PowerBI reports and dashboards - Create and optimize queries for ETL/ELT processes, integrating data from multiple sources - Conduct peer code reviews, generate test scripts, and validate data accuracy and report functionality - Monitor and maintain existing data pipelines to ensure SLA adherence and data reliability - Own and triage reporting and data-related issues, investigating root causes and documenting solutions - Create new visualizations, KPIs, and reporting frameworks to expand analytical capabilities - Respond to ad-hoc data reporting requests, providing timely and accurate data to support urgent business needs - Perform explanatory data analysis and provide data-driven recommendations to uncover trends and opportunities for operational improvement - Document data sources, report logic, and development processes for transparency and maintainability - Stay current with PowerBI and Fabric updates and best practices, applying new features to improve performance - Contribute to continuous improvement efforts by identifying opportunities to streamline reporting workflows and enhance user experience In compliance with the terms of the employment contract, company policies, and procedures, you will be expected to adapt to any changes in work locations, teams, shifts, policies, and work environment as directed by the company. **Required Qualifications:** - Advanced SQL skills for querying and transforming data from structured and semi-structured sources (4+ years) - Proficiency in PowerBI Desktop and Service, including report creation, dashboard design, data governance, security, and performance optimization (2+ years) - Proficiency in DAX and Power Query (M) for building calculated columns, measures, and transforming data within PowerBI and Excel (2+ years) - Experience designing and maintaining ELT/ELT pipelines using tools such as Azure Data Factory, SSIS, or Databricks - Experience creating technical documentation and user guides - Strong attention to detail, problem-solving skills, and technical troubleshooting abilities - Proven ability to collaborate effectively across teams with strong interpersonal communication and stakeholder engagement skills - Solid knowledge of industry best practices and emerging trends in PowerBI and the broader analytics ecosystem **Preferred Qualifications:** - 5+ years experience with PowerBI, including advanced DAX, M code, and performance optimization - 2+ years experience with scripting languages such as Python, R, Scala for data manipulation and automation - Microsoft Certified: Azure Data Fundamentals (DP-900), PowerBI Data Analyst Associate (PL-300), or Fabric Analytics Associate (DP-600) - Familiarity with workforce management tools or experience supporting call center or IT helpdesk environments - Experience using ALM Toolkit for PowerBI model comparison, deployment, and version control - Experience with agile frameworks and analytics development lifecycles Join UnitedHealth Group to start impacting the communities we serve and advancing health optimization on a global scale.
