Key Responsibilities

• Training Data Creation:

  Develop and review culturally authentic texts, including conversations, idioms, proverbs, and Q&A pairs. Create dialogues and narratives that reflect real-world contexts.

• Evaluation Design:

  Design challenging prompts to test AI performance on humor, taboos, sensitive topics, and cultural nuance, ensuring alignment with local norms.

• AI Output Benchmarking:

  Assess AI responses for tone, accuracy, cultural appropriateness, and subtle biases. Provide evaluations that only a cultural insider can identify.

• Framework & Guidelines:

  Contribute to defining cultural awareness by developing evaluation frameworks and structured data generation guidelines.

• Dataset Review & Enrichment:

  Vet and enrich datasets to capture cultural phenomena, linking examples to broader cultural theories (e.g., collectivism vs. individualism, high- vs. low-context communication).

• Bias Analysis:

  Identify potential sources of structural bias (historical, social, or linguistic) and propose methods for mitigation in AI training.

Requirements

• Language & Culture Expertise:

  Native speaker of the target language, with deep lived experience in the target culture.

• Education:

  Advanced degree (PhD preferred) in Sociolinguistics, Anthropology, Sociology, History, Cultural Studies, or a related field.

• Cultural Knowledge:

  Strong understanding of social norms, customs, history, and contemporary issues in the region.

• Professional Experience:

  Background in fields such as writing, journalism, education, or community leadership, requiring cultural immersion.

• Demographic Awareness:

  Ability to represent perspectives across age, gender, regional, urban/rural, and socioeconomic groups.

• Analytical Skills:

  Strong grasp of cultural values, kinship, rituals, and social structures, with excellent written and verbal communication abilities.
