The School Counselor is an integral member of the educational team, responsible for providing guidance and support to students, parents, and staff members. The primary focus of the school counselor is to foster the academic, social, and emotional development of students, promoting their overall well-being and success in both academic and personal aspects of life.

Key Duties & Responsibilities:

• Individual Counseling: Conduct one-on-one counseling sessions with students to address their academic, personal, and emotional concerns. Provide guidance on study habits, goal setting, career planning, and personal development.
• Group Counseling: Organize and lead group counseling sessions addressing specific issues such as stress management, peer relationships, and conflict resolution, creating a supportive environment for students to share and learn from each other.
• Crisis Intervention: Respond promptly to any crisis situation, such as bereavement, academic struggles, bullying incidents, or emotional distress, providing immediate support and referrals as necessary.
• Academic Support: Collaborate with teachers, parents, and administrators to identify and address academic challenges, learning difficulties, and behavioral concerns that may affect a student's academic progress.
• Parent and Teacher Collaboration: Communicate and collaborate with parents and teachers to address student needs effectively, participating in parent-teacher conferences and providing workshops on relevant topics.
• Development and Implementation of Programs: Design and implement school-wide programs related to social-emotional learning, mental health awareness, anti-bullying initiatives, and character development.
• Assessment and Evaluation: Utilize assessments and tools to evaluate students' strengths, weaknesses, and emotional well-being, using the results to develop personalized action plans.
• Confidentiality: Maintain strict confidentiality of student information and ensure that ethical guidelines and legal requirements are upheld at all times.
• Professional Development: Stay updated with the latest research, counseling techniques, and educational trends through continuous professional development, workshops, and training sessions.

Education Qualification & Skills:

• Master's degree in School Counseling, Counseling Psychology, or a related field.
• State licensure or certification as a School Counselor, or the ability to obtain one preferred.
• Strong interpersonal skills, empathy, and the ability to build rapport with students and parents.
• Excellent communication and active listening skills.
• Understanding of diverse cultural backgrounds and the ability to work with a diverse student population.
• Knowledge of educational systems and academic requirements.
• Familiarity with relevant counseling tools and assessments.
• Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information with professionalism and discretion.
