Job Description

Core Shooter Responsibilities

Core Sand Preparation

Mix silica sand with binders and curing agents.
Ensure consistency and strength of the sand mixture.
Monitor material quality and adjust formulations as needed.

Machine Setup & Operation

Prepare and align core boxes (molds for the cores).
Load sand mixture into the hopper or chamber.
Operate the core shooter to inject sand into the mold cavity under high pressure.
Monitor compaction to ensure uniform density and shape.

Curing Process

Cure the injected sand using heat or chemical reactions.
Ensure cores are hardened properly to withstand molten metal during casting.

Core Removal & Handling

Carefully extract cured cores from the mold.
Inspect for defects such as cracks, voids, or weak spots.
Handle and store cores safely for use in casting.

Maintenance & Troubleshooting

Perform routine maintenance on the core shooter machine.
Troubleshoot mechanical or process issues.
Ensure pneumatic/hydraulic systems and PLC controls are functioning properly.

Quality Control

Conduct final inspections of cores.
Document production metrics and defect rates.
Implement corrective actions for quality issues.
