Control Testing Specialist

Roles and Responsibilities:

• Control Design & Analysis:

  Understand and analyze the design of internal controls within various banking processes (e.g., lending, deposits, treasury, payments, IT systems, compliance).

• Test Plan Development:

  Develop comprehensive control test plans, scripts, and procedures based on identified risks, regulatory requirements, internal policies, and control objectives.

• Control Test Execution:

  Execute control tests rigorously across a range of banking functions, gathering evidence and evaluating the operating effectiveness of key controls. This may involve reviewing transactions, system configurations, and process documentation.

• Documentation & Reporting:

  Document test results, findings, and identified control deficiencies clearly and concisely. Prepare detailed reports for management, highlighting risks and recommending corrective actions.

• Issue Identification & Remediation:

  Identify control weaknesses, breakdowns, or gaps. Collaborate with process owners and risk management teams to propose and track the implementation of effective remediation plans.

• Regulatory & Policy Compliance:

  Ensure control testing activities align with banking industry regulations (e.g., RBI guidelines, Basel Accords, AML/KYC), internal policies, and best practices.

• Stakeholder Collaboration:

  Work closely with business unit leaders, risk management, compliance, internal audit, and IT teams to ensure a consistent approach to control assessment and improvement.

• Continuous Improvement:

  Contribute to the continuous enhancement of the control testing framework, methodologies, and tools.

• Troubleshooting:

  Investigate and troubleshoot issues related to control effectiveness or testing processes, identifying root causes and proposing solutions.

Preferred Candidate Profile:

• Banking Domain Expertise:

  In-depth understanding of the banking industry, including its operational processes, products, services, and regulatory environment (e.g., retail banking, corporate banking, treasury, risk management, compliance).

• Control Testing & Risk Management:

  Strong knowledge of internal controls, control testing methodologies, risk management frameworks, and governance principles.

• Analytical Skills:

  Excellent analytical and critical thinking skills with the ability to interpret complex processes, identify control points, and assess their effectiveness.

• Attention to Detail:

  Meticulous attention to detail in executing tests, documenting findings, and ensuring accuracy of reports.

• Communication & Collaboration:

  Exceptional verbal and written communication skills to articulate complex findings to various stakeholders and foster collaborative relationships.

• Technical Acumen (Plus):

  Familiarity with banking systems, core banking applications, and relevant data analysis tools is a plus.

• Certifications (Plus):

  Relevant professional certifications such such as CISA (Certified Information Systems Auditor), CIA (Certified Internal Auditor), or FRM (Financial Risk Manager) are highly desirable.
