Job Description

Commis 1 (Continental) ResponsibilitiesA Commis 1 (Commi I) is typically an entry-level or junior chef position, often a chef in training, who assists senior chefs in various kitchen duties. "Continental" indicates a specialization in European cuisines and cooking techniques.

  • Food Preparation: Preparing meal ingredients, including washing, peeling, chopping vegetables and fruits, and seasoning meats for the Chef de Partie.
  • Basic Cooking: Assisting in preparing and cooking continental dishes under the guidance of senior chefs, following established recipes and standards.
  • Hygiene & Safety: Maintaining high standards of kitchen cleanliness and organization, ensuring all health and safety regulations are followed.
  • Inventory & Storage: Receiving deliveries, verifying items, organizing stock, ensuring proper food labeling/dating and storage at correct temperatures to prevent spoilage.
  • Assisting the Team: Supporting the kitchen team during service periods and helping with other tasks as required by supervisors.

Demi Chef de Partie (DCDP) ResponsibilitiesA Demi Chef de Partie (DCDP) is a more experienced position than a Commis I and typically manages a specific section of the kitchen (e.g., the grill, the pantry, or a particular cuisine type like "Continental").

  • Section Oversight: Overseeing and managing operations within their assigned kitchen section.
  • Supervision & Training: Assisting in directing and supervising more junior staff, including Commis chefs, and training them in specific cooking techniques or procedures.
  • Quality Control: Ensuring that all dishes prepared within their section meet the restaurant's quality standards and are presented correctly.
  • Operational Support: Assisting the Chef de Partie (CDP) in menu planning, inventory management, and ensuring smooth service delivery.
  • Problem Solving: Identifying and reporting equipment defects or hazards and ensuring all daily and weekly operational checklists (e.g., temperature checks) are completed.

In summary, the DCDP role involves more supervision and independent cooking within a specialized area, while the Commis 1 role is more focused on foundational food preparation and support tasks.

Pay: ₹12,600.00 - ₹25,000.00 per month
