Computer Lab Instructor

Essential duties typically include:

• Setting up, demonstrating, and troubleshooting equipment and software.
• Maintaining lab cleanliness, safety, and equipment inventory.
• Assisting faculty in developing and delivering lab curriculum.
• Providing technical assistance and instruction to lab users on use of computers, operating systems, printers, and peripheral devices.
• Monitoring and resolving hardware/software issues, including minor maintenance and reporting malfunctions or damages.
• Ensuring compliance with lab policies (e.g., prohibiting food/drink near computers, managing secure access).
• Maintaining attendance records and usage logs.
• Guiding students and faculty in software updates, installations, and safety procedures.
• Contributing to curriculum development and selection of materials and manuals.

Required qualifications often include:

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent in computer science or related field.
• Strong technical, troubleshooting, and communication skills.
• Organizational skills and ability to manage inventory and maintenance logs.

Additional responsibilities may involve:

• Supporting students' learning by instructing in basic and advanced computer skills, fostering computer literacy, and adapting teaching methods for different skill levels.
• Responding to queries and documenting repeated issues for future reference.
