NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde is one of the largest healthcare systems in the UK employing around 40,000 staff in a wide range of clinical and non-clinical professions and job roles. We deliver acute hospital, primary, community and mental health care services to a population of over 1.15 million and a wider population of 2.2 million when our regional and national services are included.We are looking for an enthusiastic individual with excellent communication skills to take on a part time 3 days per week working Wednesday - Friday in our Receptionist role in the PETCT department at Beatson Oncology Centre on Gartnavel Campus.You will work as part of a team delivering a regional PETCT imaging service. The work, which is patient focussed, includes appointing, communicating with and receiving patients while working with and supporting clinical and scientific colleagues.PETCT involves scanning patient following the administration of radioactive tracers. It is used for diagnosis and disease surveillance for a range of cancers and other diseases. Many of our patients will be concerned about the use of radiation, or about their diagnosis and many will be frail or elderly.You will be the main contact the patient has with department before they arrive and will be expected to have an approachable, friendly, kind, patient and helpful manner. The work is enjoyable because of the range of contacts throughout the day but can also be stressful, particularly because the short life of our tracers involves a “just in time” supply model which often results in last minute changes and cancellations to patient appointments. You will have excellent communication skills and a good telephone manner.You must be proficient with using IT packages including MS Office and email.
