Chiller - SME

Role & responsibilities:

As a Chiller Design Expert, you will be responsible for designing robust and energy-efficient chiller systems tailored to FMCG production environments, including climate-controlled manufacturing zones, storage facilities, and process cooling applications. You will ensure compliance with food safety standards, optimize system performance, and collaborate closely with plant operations and utilities teams. This role involves thermal load calculations, equipment selection, piping design, energy efficiency analysis, and integration of chillers with process systems. The candidate should possess deep technical knowledge of chiller types, thermodynamics, and compliance standards, with the ability to deliver innovative, cost-effective, and sustainable solutions

Key Responsibilities:

• Design and engineer central chiller systems, including air-cooled and water-cooled chillers (centrifugal, screw, scroll, and absorption) for FMCG manufacturing and cold chain operations.
• Conduct cooling load calculations for production equipment, process areas, and storage zones
• Select appropriate chiller models and system components based on project requirements and environmental conditions.
• Develop detailed piping and instrumentation diagrams (P&ID), layouts, and equipment schedules.
• Conduct energy modeling and life-cycle cost analysis to ensure efficiency and sustainability.
• Collaborate with architects, MEP teams, and Support design integration with process cooling and HVAC systems across multiple facilities
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams (production, maintenance, EHS, quality) and external vendors
• Specify and review control systems (e.g., BMS integration, setpoint strategies, VFD applications).
• Ensure alignment with GMP, HACCP, and energy efficiency standards relevant to FMCG operations.
• Prepare and review technical specifications, tender documents, and shop drawings.
• Provide technical support during installation, testing, and commissioning phases.

Qualifications and Skills:

• Bachelors or Masters Degree in Mechanical Engineering.
• Minimum 8 years s of chiller system design experience, preferably within FMCG, food processing, or similar industries.
• Proficiency with design software: AutoCAD, Revit MEP, SolidWorks, and thermal modeling tools.
• Strong knowledge of refrigeration cycles, thermodynamics, and chilled water systems.
• Understanding of process cooling integration and clean room HVAC design is a plus.
• Excellent technical writing and documentation skills.
• Ability to manage multiple design projects simultaneously and deliver within deadlines.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience with ammonia, refrigerant and glycol-based systems
• Knowledge of sustainability programs and thermal energy recovery in FMCG plants.
• OEM training or knowledge of leading chiller brands (Trane, York, Daikin, Carrier).
