Chief Technology Officer (CTO)

The ideal candidate will take ownership of BEOs technology and architecture, professionalize delivery processes using DORA metrics, ensure security and compliance measures are in place, and focus on scaling the tech organization. Key responsibilities include crafting technology roadmaps and defining the architecture with a focus on cloud strategy, services/microservices, and data strategy. Additionally, the role involves leading and nurturing the engineering team through hiring, coaching, and defining career paths. Ensuring delivery excellence and quality through continuous integration/continuous deployment (CI/CD), testing strategies, observability, and incident/problem management is crucial. The candidate will also be responsible for security and compliance, risk and vendor management, as well as budget and partner management including cloud costs and external vendors. Building strong partnerships with Product, Sales, and the executive team to align on objectives, OKRs, and prioritization is essential. The desired candidate should have a minimum of 5 years of experience as a CTO in a similar or larger company, with over 10 years of experience in tech leadership. They should have a proven track record of scaling teams/platforms with high availability rates (>99.9%) and faster time-to-market. Deep expertise in cloud platforms (AWS/Azure/GCP), containers/orchestration (Docker/Kubernetes), CI/CD practices (e.g., GitHub Actions/GitLab CI), and Infrastructure as Code (IaC) using tools like Terraform is required. Experience in security and compliance, including audit readiness, defining policies, and access management is necessary. Strong organizational building skills, change management expertise, and effective stakeholder communication in both German and English are essential. Nice-to-have qualifications include experience with data/machine learning workloads, event-driven architectures, and familiarity with FinOps practices. Certifications such as AWS Professional or security leadership training would be considered advantageous for this role.,
