Centerless Grinder Operator

Key Responsibilities

• Machine Setup & Operation
• Prepare and adjust centerless grinding machines (e.g., Hardinge, ANCA) for the production of precision cylindrical parts.
• Select, mount, and align grinding wheels, regulating wheels, and work rests to meet target dimensions.
• Precision Grinding
• Operate machines to grind parts to tight tolerances (typical range ±0.0002″ / ±0.005 mm).
• Monitor in-process metrics like part diameter, surface finish, and concentricity.
• Inspection & Quality Control
• Perform frequent quality checks using micrometers, dial indicators, optical comparators, and surface finish testers.
• Record inspection data and mark out-of-spec parts for rework or rejection.
• Preventive Maintenance
• Conduct routine upkeep: lubricate movable parts, dress grinding wheels, maintain coolant levels and cleanliness.
• Identify signs of mechanical wear or misalignment; escalate for repair when needed.
• Technical Support & Collaboration
• Review engineering drawings to interpret critical specs and tolerances.
• Work closely with Production Engineers to optimize machine setups and reduce cycle times.
• Safety & Housekeeping
• Adhere strictly to safety protocols, wear personal protective equipment, and handle grinding dust and coolant responsibly.
• Keep work area organized; manage tool storage, part handling, and material flow efficiently.

Qualifications

• Education:
• High school diploma or equivalent; technical/diploma in machining or manufacturing technology preferred.
• Experience:
• 2–4 years of hands-on centerless grinding operations (automated or manual).
• Proven ability to meet precision tolerances in high-volume or batch-production environments.
• Technical Skills:
• Proficiency with surface measuring instruments (e.g. micrometers, gauges, profilometers).
• Familiarity with CNC controls or PLC-based grinding systems is a plus.
• Soft Skills:
• Strong attention to detail, good problem-solving aptitude.
• Team-player with effective communication in plant-floor settings.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: ₹15,000.00 - ₹25,000.00 per month
