Job Description

As an early-stage ecommerce venture backed by a renowned South Indian retail chain, we are seeking a dynamic and experienced Ecommerce Category Manager to drive growth and profitability for a specific category. Your role will involve expertise in purchasing, assortment planning, product merchandising, and collaboration across teams to enhance the customer experience and achieve business targets. **Key Responsibilities:** - **Category Ownership**: Manage the category's profitability focusing on key metrics like Gross Merchandise Value and Inventory turnover. Curate a suitable selection for different customer segments, ensure cost-efficient sourcing, and collaborate on marketing strategies. - **Product Curation & Merchandising**: Build and maintain a compelling product selection aligned with customer preferences and market demand. Optimize product listings for visibility and conversions, and plan promotional strategies to drive sales. - **Market Analysis & Trends**: Stay updated on market trends and competitors to refine assortment strategies. Implement competitive pricing models and adopt new trends relevant to the category. - **Data-driven Decisions**: Utilize data insights to identify growth opportunities and enhance the customer experience. Monitor KPIs to track category performance and develop replenishment plans for optimal stock levels. - **Vendor Management**: Negotiate with suppliers for better pricing and terms to ensure cost efficiency. - **Operations**: Oversee day-to-day category operations, collaborate with warehouse and operations teams for inventory management, and work with internal teams on merchandising strategies. **Qualifications:** - **Education**: Bachelor's degree in a relevant field; Master's degree is a plus. - **Experience**: 5+ years in category management, vendor management, or P&L experience in ecommerce or retail.
