Job Description: Career Counsellor Overseas Education Position Title: Career Counsellor Overseas Education Department: Career Services / Study Abroad Office Reports To: Director of Career Services or Study Abroad Manager Location: Bangalore Employment Type: Full-Time / Part-Time Job Overview: We are seeking an experienced and motivated Career Counsellor specializing in Overseas Education to guide students through the process of selecting, applying to, and succeeding in higher education institutions abroad. The ideal candidate will possess strong knowledge of international education systems, admission processes, and the student visa requirements of various countries. The Career Counsellor will provide personalized guidance, support, and resources to students pursuing opportunities for undergraduate, graduate, and professional education abroad. Key Responsibilities: Individualized Counselling: Conduct one-on-one counselling sessions to understand students academic interests, career goals, and financial considerations for overseas education. Guide students in selecting the right course and country based on their interests, qualifications, and long-term career aspirations. Provide tailored advice on the academic and cultural fit of universities abroad, considering students' strengths and preferences. University and Program Selection: Help students research and identify the best universities and programs abroad based on their academic and professional goals. Assist in preparing a shortlist of institutions, taking into account factors like course offerings, rankings, reputation, location, and career opportunities. Advise students on the benefits and challenges of studying in various countries (e.g., US, UK, Canada, Australia, Europe, etc.). Application Process Assistance: Guide students through the application process for international universities, including document preparation, writing personal statements, and recommendation letters. Assist with application forms, application deadlines, and any other requirements specific to the institution or country. Provide expert advice on standardized tests (e.g., GRE, IELTS, TOEFL, GMAT) and help students prepare accordingly. Visa and Immigration Guidance: Educate students about visa and immigration requirements for the chosen country, providing step-by-step guidance for the visa application process. Keep up to date with changing immigration regulations and provide students with the latest information. Coordinate with immigration consultants or visa experts if necessary. Scholarships and Financial Aid: Assist students in identifying scholarships, financial aid options, and funding opportunities available for international education. Provide guidance on preparing scholarship applications and supporting documents, and offer advice on managing finances while studying abroad. Pre-Departure and Cultural Preparation: Offer pre-departure briefings that cover topics such as culture shock, adjusting to life abroad, academic expectations, and safety tips. Help students understand the academic, social, and cultural differences they may encounter abroad and prepare them to adapt successfully. Workshops and Seminars: Organize workshops and information sessions on topics such as selecting the right overseas education program, application processes, visa procedures, and adapting to a new culture. Conduct seminars with guest speakers from universities abroad, immigration consultants, or current international students to provide real-life insights. Post-Admission Guidance: Assist students with post-admission requirements, such as housing arrangements, flight bookings, and health insurance. Provide support and follow-up counselling once students are enrolled, helping them adjust to life abroad and resolving any issues that may arise during their studies. Networking and Partnerships: Establish and maintain relationships with international universities, education agents, and relevant stakeholders in the overseas education sector. Organize recruitment events, virtual fairs, or university visits to connect students with representatives from top universities. Ongoing Support: Offer career counselling services to students during their time abroad, providing guidance on internships, career services at international universities, and networking opportunities in their host country. Provide post-graduation career advice for students returning to their home country or seeking employment abroad. . Certifications: Relevant certifications in career counselling or international education (e.g., Certified International Education Professional, Study Abroad Advisor) are will be added advantage. Working Conditions: Full-time or part-time position depending on the organization's needs. Occasional evening or weekend hours may be required for workshops or university fairs. Office-based role with some opportunities for virtual counselling.
