CAD Designer – Solar Layout Planning

Job Description

Role Overview We are looking for a CAD Designer to support our solar project design team in preparing site layout drawings using FMB (Field Measurement Book) data, site maps, and panel specifications. The designer will be responsible for creating accurate and optimized solar module placement layouts for ground-mounted projects. Key Responsibilities Use/Prepare FMB documents based on Survey numbers/Digital Maps available from Tamilnadu Registration Department, create land maps, and survey data to prepare detailed AutoCAD layout drawings. Design efficient solar module placement plans considering module size, row spacing, and site shape. Assist in overall layout planning, including access paths. Coordinate with project engineers to update and revise designs as per site conditions or technical inputs. Ensure layout drawings meet technical accuracy and compliance standards. Requirements Proficiency in AutoCAD (2D layout design). Ability to work with FMB sketches and land survey maps to create industrial park layouts. Understanding of solar PV layout principles and module dimensioning. Diploma/Degree in Civil, Mechanical, Electrical Engineering, or a related field. Strong attention to detail and commitment to meeting deadlines. Preferred Skills Experience with solar design tools (e.g., PVsyst, SketchUp, Helioscope). Prior experience in solar/residential project layout planning or EPC projects.
