CAD Design Engineer (Uluberia)

Job Title: CAD Design Engineer – Foundry
Location: Ulberia, West Bengal
Working Days: Mon to Saturday
Joining Requirement: Immediate Joiners Preferred
Experience: Minimum 3+ years in Foundry / Casting Design

Key Responsibilities

• Design and develop 2D & 3D models using CAD tools (AutoCAD, SolidWorks, Pro/E/Creo, or equivalent).
• Prepare and release manufacturing drawings with accurate dimensions, tolerances, surface finish specifications, and material details, ensuring compliance with company/ISO standards.
• Work on casting and pattern design, including moulding/core layouts, gating & riser systems, shrinkage and machining allowances.
• Apply knowledge of ductile iron and grey iron material properties (thermal behaviour, shrinkage, surface finish) in design.
• Collaborate with pattern shop, foundry, machining, finishing, and QA teams to resolve design and production challenges.
• Troubleshoot design issues such as shrinkage, warping, and defects with foundry teams.
• Support quality control activities by considering inspection/testing requirements in designs.
• Manage design documentation, version control, and ensure compliance with ISO 9001 standards.
• Utilize CAE/simulation tools (if relevant) for stress or thermal analysis.
• Suggest design improvements for cost reduction, ease of manufacturing, and reduced scrap.
• Ensure timely delivery of design projects while handling multiple tasks simultaneously.

Candidate Requirements

• 3+ years of experience in casting/pattern design within a foundry or manufacturing setup.
• Strong command of CAD tools (2D & 3D), preferably with exposure to CAE/simulation tools.
• Knowledge of foundry processes (pattern shop, moulding machines like ARPA 450/900, sand plant, shot blasting, finishing, machining tolerances).
• Familiarity with quality control processes and inspection techniques.
• Working knowledge of ISO 9001 documentation and design change control.
• Proficiency in MS Office and drawing/document management tools.
• Excellent attention to detail, problem-solving ability, and communication skills.
• Strong time management skills with ability to meet deadlines.
• Immediate availability preferred.
