Job Title: Buyer/Sr. Buyer
Function: Procurement
Business: EPC Refinery, Distillery & Process Plants Reporting To: Head – Procurement Head / Group Head Procurement
Role Objective
To lead and manage end-to-end procurement for EPC projects, with complete ownership of the Procure-to-Pay (P2P) cycle, ensuring timely availability of mechanical packages, components, and bought-out equipment while balancing cost, quality, delivery, and commercial risk in refinery and distillery projects.
Key Responsibilities
1. Procure-to-Pay (P2P) Ownership
Own and govern the complete P2P cycle from PR validation, RFQ, techno-commercial evaluation, PO placement, expediting, inspection, delivery, GRN, invoice processing, and closure.
Ensure ERP discipline, documentation accuracy, and audit compliance without impacting project timelines.
Proactively identify and resolve P2P bottlenecks impacting project execution or cash flow.
2. Package & Category Procurement
Lead procurement of mechanical packages, components, and bought-out items, including pumps, valves, static and rotating equipment, skids, and packaged systems.
Define procurement strategies for critical and long-lead items to meet project schedules.
Ensure technical compliance in coordination with Engineering while maintaining commercial competitiveness.
3. Refinery & Distillery Project Execution
Handle procurement for refinery and distillery EPC projects, ensuring adherence to client, licensor, and statutory requirements.
Understand project criticalities such as shutdown-driven timelines, high documentation requirements, and quality compliance.
Support smooth execution through timely ordering, expediting, and supplier coordination.
4. Techno-Commercial Evaluation & Negotiation
Manage vendor sourcing, techno-commercial evaluations, negotiations, and finalization.
Structure contracts to mitigate schedule delays, cost escalation, LD exposure, and scope variations.
Drive value engineering, alternate sourcing, and cost optimization initiatives.
5. Execution Interface & Risk Management
Work closely with Engineering, Projects, Quality, Finance, Logistics, and Site teams to ensure seamless procurement execution.
Monitor supplier performance, expediting, inspection, and logistics readiness.
Identify procurement and supply-chain risks and implement mitigation plans.
6. Vendor Management
Develop and maintain a robust and reliable vendor ecosystem aligned with EPC execution needs.
Evaluate vendors on cost, quality, delivery performance, capacity, and responsiveness.
Build long-term partnerships while maintaining competitive sourcing.

Qualification & Experience
Education: BE / B.Tech in Mechanical Engineering (preferred)
Experience:
8–18 years in EPC Procurement
Mandatory exposure to Refinery / Distillery / Process Plant projects
Strong experience in mechanical packages and bought-out equipment procurement
Key Skills & Competencies
