Pharmaceutical Business Development Manager

Job Summary

Lead and drive strategic expansion through identification, evaluation, and execution of business opportunities such as in-licensing, co-development, and alliances. Support portfolio growth, strengthen market positioning, and contribute to revenue targets within the pharmaceutical sector.

Key Responsibilities

Opportunity Identification

Identify, evaluate, and prioritize in-licensing and co-development opportunities aligned with organizational strategy and global market needs.

Strategic Alliances

Build and maintain relationships with pharmaceutical companies, research institutions, distributors, and other key stakeholders to explore and facilitate partnerships.

Market Analysis

Conduct comprehensive market research to assess trends, competitive landscape, and growth potential across therapeutic categories.

Deal Negotiation & Execution

Negotiate, structure, and finalize licensing or co-development agreements; manage strategic partnerships and collaborations.

Cross-Functional Collaboration

Work closely with R&D, regulatory affairs, manufacturing, legal, and commercial teams to assess feasibility and ensure seamless partnership integration.

Due Diligence & Risk Analysis

Lead due diligence processes, including financial modeling, technical evaluation, and risk assessment to support informed decision-making.

Business Strategy & Planning

Develop and implement business development strategies and business cases to meet revenue forecasts and long-term goals.

Leadership & Mentorship (if applicable)

Provide guidance and mentorship to junior team members, fostering a collaborative and high-performance team culture.

External Representation

Represent the company at industry events, conferences, and networking forums to promote partnerships and brand presence.

Market Monitoring & Reporting

Track competitive and regulatory developments, monitor KPIs, and analyze market dynamics to proactively identify challenges and opportunities.

Qualifications

Education

Bachelors degree in Pharmacy, Life Sciences, Business, Engineering, or related field. Advanced degree (, MBA) preferred.

Experience

Around 8 - 20 years in business development, licensing, alliances, or similar roles within the pharmaceutical or biotech industry.
