Business Analyst (BA) Product Owner Mindset

Business Analyst

You will:

• Understand

  what is needed, why it is needed, and who it serves

  .
• Align features with both

  business goals

  and

  customer needs

  .
• Drive research, documentation, wireframes, user stories, sprint planning, and delivery tracking.
• Post-delivery, you will

  analyze customer feedback

  and recommend the next set of improvements or features.

Key Responsibilities

Problem Understanding & Value Analysis

• Take broad, sometimes unclear, problem statements from founders and stakeholders.
• Identify the

  core business need

  and

  the customer problem

  it solves.
• Clearly articulate the

  “why”

  behind every feature.
• Research market and competitors to validate ideas and discover opportunities.

Customer-Centric Feature Definition

• Understand the target audience and customer journey.
• Define features with both

  business outcomes

  and

  customer satisfaction

  in mind.
• Create detailed

  feature documentation

  that explains:
• What the feature is.
• Why it’s needed.
• Who benefits from it.
• Expected business and user impact.

Wireframing & Requirements

• Create

  wireframes/mockups

  to visualize workflows and user experience across devices (web, mobile, desktop).
• Develop

  user stories

  with clear acceptance criteria.
• Define success metrics for each feature.

Planning & Prioritization

• Break down features into

  sprint-ready tasks

  .
• Decide

  what matters now vs. later

  based on impact and timelines.
• Prioritize features according to customer needs, market urgency, and business value.

Sprint & Delivery Management

• Create sprint plans, allocate tasks, and manage timelines.
• Track progress, resolve blockers, and maintain delivery quality.
• Ensure all deliveries match documented requirements and customer expectations.

Post-Delivery Analysis & Continuous Improvement

• Gather and analyze customer feedback after launch.
• Identify gaps, enhancements, and new feature opportunities.
• Prepare data-driven recommendations for the next product cycle.
• Ensure new ideas also follow the

  what/why/who

  framework before development.

Requirements

• 3+ years of BA or Product Owner experience (startup experience preferred).
• Strong ability to

  connect business goals with customer needs

  .
• Experience in

  requirement gathering, competitor research, and market analysis

  .
• Skilled in

  wireframing

  (Figma, etc.).
• Expertise in

  user stories

  and

  acceptance criteria

  .
• Familiarity with

  Agile

  methodologies and sprint planning tools (Jira, Trello, etc.).
• Excellent analytical, communication, and documentation skills.
• Ownership mindset with the ability to work in

  low-clarity, high-speed

  environments.

  never owned a product feature end-to-end

  — from idea to delivery — and only worked on small, isolated tasks.
• You

  only follow instructions

  without questioning or understanding the business and customer “why”.
• You have

  zero experience

  in building features across devices (web, mobile, desktop, multi-platform).
• You

  avoid ambiguity

  and expect fully detailed requirements before starting work.
• You are uncomfortable

  challenging ideas

  or suggesting better alternatives.
• You cannot work in

  fast-paced, shifting-priority

  startup environments.
• You are unable to manage

  sprints, timelines, and delivery quality

  independently.
