Blending & Quality Head | Product Development – Spirit Industry

Job profile

We are looking for a highly skilled and creative Blending & Quality Head to lead our product innovation and quality control functions. The ideal candidate will have deep expertise in spirit blending, sensory profiling, and quality assurance for products such as whisky, rum, vodka, gin, and other alcoholic beverages. This role will be instrumental in developing new blends and premium products, maintaining consistent quality standards, and ensuring compliance with regulatory norms.

Key Responsibilities

·       Lead the development of new blends and product formulations in line with market trends and company strategy.

·       Manage quality control and assurance processes across raw materials, in-process liquids, and finished goods.

·       Maintain flavour consistency and sensory standards for all products through regular tasting panels and lab analyses.

·       Collaborate with production, bottling, and procurement teams to ensure quality and stability of blends.

·       Design and optimize blending techniques for whisky, rum, gin, and vodka.

·       Monitor analytical parameters (alcohol strength, flavour, aroma, colour, etc.) to ensure compliance with BIS, FSSAI, and excise standards.

·       Develop and maintain standard operating procedures (SOPs) for blending, filtration, and bottling.

·       Lead R&D initiatives to innovate new SKUs, premium variants, and special editions.

·       Ensure adherence to statutory and excise quality regulations.

·       Mentor lab and blending teams for technical excellence and innovation.

Skills and Qualifications

·       B.Sc. / M.Sc. in Chemistry, Food Technology, or related discipline (B.Tech in Chemical Engineering preferred).

·       8–15 years of experience in blending, product development, or quality control within the liquor or distillery industry.

·       Strong sensory and analytical skills with deep understanding of flavour chemistry.

·       Proven track record of creating successful and consistent blends.

·       Excellent attention to detail, record-keeping, and regulatory awareness.

·       Passionate about innovation, craftsmanship, and quality in spirits.
