Job Description

We are looking for a dedicated and detail-oriented Histopathology Assistant to join our team. The candidate will be responsible for the daily filing and organization of slides and tissue blocks within the Histopathology Department. This role also includes assisting in the maintenance of archival repositories from previous years and managing the procurement of blocks and slides required for patient requests.

The candidate must be willing to work on Saturdays and contribute to any departmental or institutional projects as needed. In addition, they may be required to support other departments—such as the NGS (Next-Generation Sequencing) laboratory—when assistance is needed. All necessary training and guidance will be provided.

Key Responsibilities

• Daily filing, sorting, and organizing of histopathology slides and blocks.
• Assist in the maintenance and cataloging of archival repositories.
• Facilitate retrieval and dispatch of blocks and slides requested for patient reports or external use.
• Support departmental projects when assigned.
• Assist other laboratory units, including the NGS lab, as required.
• Maintain proper documentation and ensure compliance with laboratory protocols.
• Work collaboratively with team members to ensure workflow efficiency.
• Availability to work on Saturdays.

Job Requirements

Education & Experience

• Experience in a histopathology or diagnostic lab would be an added advantage.
• Bio Science Related Degree

Skills

• Strong attention to detail and ability to handle delicate materials (slides, blocks).
• Good organizational and documentation skills.
• Ability to follow protocols and maintain data accuracy.
• Willingness to learn and work across multiple departments.
• Basic computer skills for data entry and record management.

Other Requirements

• Ability to work on Saturdays (mandatory).
• Willingness to contribute to departmental or research projects.
• Ability to work as part of a team and follow instructions carefully.
• Physical ability to manage filing tasks and handle lab materials safely.
• Male Candidates Preferred
