Job Description

As a Billing Manager in the construction industry, you play a critical role in ensuring financial accuracy, compliance, and efficiency in project billing processes. Your 15-20 years of progressive experience in construction billing and financial operations will be instrumental in leading the end-to-end billing lifecycle for large-scale, complex projects. Your responsibilities include: - Overseeing the preparation, review, and submission of project billing statements in alignment with contract terms, project milestones, and client requirements. - Leading the validation of cost data, change orders, and progress reports for accurate and compliant billing documentation. - Collaborating with project managers, estimators, and superintendents to gather and verify project progress data for billing purposes. - Managing the reconciliation of billing records with accounting systems to ensure financial accuracy and timely revenue recognition. - Developing and maintaining standardized billing templates, workflows, and internal controls for improved efficiency and reduced errors. - Identifying and resolving billing discrepancies, delays, or disputes with clients and internal stakeholders promptly and professionally. - Providing regular reporting on billing performance, outstanding receivables, and cash flow projections to senior leadership. - Mentoring and guiding junior billing staff to ensure adherence to best practices and compliance with company policies and industry standards. - Partnering with finance and legal teams to ensure compliance with contractual obligations, tax regulations, and audit requirements. - Implementing process improvements and leveraging technology such as ERP systems and project management software to enhance billing automation and accuracy. As for the requirements for this role, you should have: - A Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Construction Management, or a related field; CPA or PMP certification is a plus. - 15-20 years of progressive experience in construction billing, preferably within large-scale infrastructure, commercial, or industrial projects. - Proven expertise in progress billing, change order management, retainage handling, and contract compliance. - In-depth knowledge of construction accounting principles, cost tracking, and revenue recognition (ASC 606). - Advanced proficiency in ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle, Procore, or similar) and Microsoft Excel (pivot tables, VLOOKUPs, macros). - Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills with a high level of attention to detail. - Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate across departments and negotiate with clients. - Experience leading billing teams and driving process optimization initiatives. - Ability to manage multiple projects under tight deadlines while maintaining accuracy and compliance. - Experience with project closeout billing and final invoice reconciliation.,
