Backup and storage Job Summary: We are seeking a highly capable and experienced L2 Backup and Storage Engineer to manage the integrity and efficiency of enterprise data protection systems. This role involves proactive troubleshooting, root cause analysis, and optimization of backup and storage environments using leading technologies like Commvault, NAS/SAN, RAID, NFS, and Active Directory. Key Responsibilities: Manage and resolve escalated issues in backup operations, especially using Commvault Conduct regular performance assessments of NAS/SAN environments Validate, reconfigure, and troubleshoot RAID arrays and storage failures Diagnose issues with NFS mounts, permissions, and connectivity Administer and audit Active Directory entries relevant to backup and access policies Develop and maintain backup schedules, storage policies, and DR documentation Support restoration and recovery procedures during high-priority incidents Collaborate with L1 analysts, assist with training, and ensure knowledge transfer Contribute to capacity planning, patching cycles, and compliance audits Interface with cross-functional teams and third-party vendors for resolution and upgrades Required Skills: Proficient in Commvault backup suite, job configuration, and log analysis Strong understanding of SAN/NAS technologies including iSCSI, Fibre Channel, and CIFS/NFS protocols Practical experience with various RAID levels and their performance trade-offs Familiarity with NFS exports, client permissions, and mount failures Solid grasp of Active Directory including GPOs, OU structures, and ACLs Knowledge of ITIL framework, change/request management Strong documentation and reporting abilities Job Summary: We are seeking a highly skilled L3 Backup and Storage Engineer responsible for architecting, administering, and optimizing enterprise backup and storage solutions. The role entails handling critical incidents, designing recovery strategies, and mentoring junior engineers, while ensuring security, scalability, and high availability of storage platforms. Key Responsibilities: Lead Design, architecture backup and optimization using Commvault backup solutions. Design, configure, and troubleshoot NAS/SAN environments, including iSCSI and Fibre Channel Upgrade Commvault infrastructure (CommServe, Media Agents). Define and optimize global deduplication and storage policies. Automate backup tasks using scripts/APIs Integrate Commvault with cloud storage (Azure, AWS). Review licensing, capacity, and resource utilization. Lead DR planning and execution for critical apps. Design cross-site replication and copy policies. Ensure compliance with audit, security, and retention standards. Manage high-performance RAID setups, ensuring fault tolerance and data integrity Resolve complex access issues and performance bottlenecks in NFS shares Audit and maintain Active Directory structures, including GPOs and replication relevant to backup systems Drive capacity planning and lifecycle management for storage infrastructure Develop automation scripts for backup validation, reporting, and compliance Own disaster recovery strategy planning, testing, and execution Collaborate with cybersecurity, cloud, and server teams to align storage strategies Prepare detailed architecture documents, SOPs, and RCA reports for enterprise stakeholders Mentor L1/L2 analysts and lead technology onboarding initiatives Participate in RFP reviews and vendor selection for backup/storage technologies Required Skills: Expert-level proficiency in Commvault including custom job scripting, deduplication, and cloud connector configurations Deep knowledge of SAN/NAS technologies, including zoning, LUN masking, multipathing, and storage tiering Mastery of RAID levels, performance tuning, and predictive failure analysis Strong experience in NFS configuration, client behavior analysis, and integration with heterogeneous environments Advanced understanding of Active Directory, DNS, LDAP, and Kerberos Scripting capabilities in PowerShell, Shell, or Python for automation and diagnostics Knowledge of enterprise monitoring tools (e.g., SolarWinds, Zabbix) and ITSM frameworks Ability to handle escalations and drive mission-critical resolutions
