Backend Lead

Role & responsibilities:

• Architecture & Design:

• Lead the design and implementation of large-scale distributed systems using Python.
• Define and enforce architectural standards, design patterns, and scalability strategies.

• Backend Development:

• Build, optimize, and maintain backend services, APIs, and microservices.
• Ensure robustness, performance, and security of systems handling high traffic and sensitive data

• Technical Leadership:

• Mentor SDE 1/2 engineers through code reviews, design sessions, and technical guidance.
• Drive adoption of best practices in coding, testing, DevOps, and documentation.
• Collaboration:
• Partner with product managers, frontend engineers, and DevOps to deliver end-to-end features.
• Influence technical decisions aligning with business goals.

• Performance & Monitoring:

• Optimize system performance and reliability.
• Implement observability tools for monitoring, logging, and alerting.

• Innovation & Scaling:

• Explore new tools, frameworks, and approaches to improve developer productivity and platform performance.
• Anticipate scaling challenges and design proactively for future growth.

Preferred candidate profile

• 7-10 years of backend engineering experience, with Python (Django/FastAPI/Flask) as a core skill.
• Proven experience in designing and scaling high-performance distributed systems.
• Deep understanding of system design, architecture principles, and microservices.
• Expertise in databases (PostgreSQL, MySQL, MongoDB, Redis) and caching strategies.
• Experience with cloud platforms (AWS/GCP/Azure) and containerization (Docker, Kubernetes).
• Proficiency with asynchronous programming, event-driven systems, and message brokers (Kafka, RabbitMQ, Celery).
• Strong understanding of CI/CD pipelines, automated testing, and version control (Git).
• Excellent problem-solving, debugging, and performance tuning skills.

Preferred Qualifications

• Bachelors degree in computer science, Engineering, or a related field.
• Prior experience building SaaS products, logistics-tech platforms, or large-scale transactional systems.
• Knowledge of GraphQL, API gateways, and advanced security practices.
• Familiarity with observability stacks (Prometheus, Grafana, ELK).
• Experience in mentoring and leading small engineering teams.
