As a Backend Developer , you will play a key role in supporting the delivery of industry-leading web and mobile applications within an E-Commerce environment . Working collaboratively within an established team, you will be responsible for balancing speed of delivery with the delivery of a high-quality customer experience . You will engage with colleagues across the business to ensure that all changes and system maintenance activities align with defined quality standards and business objectives . The ideal candidate will be part of a motivated and agile team , committed to delivering project outcomes in accordance with the Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC) and company development standards . Roles and Responsibilities Design, develop, and maintain RESTful APIs and backend services using Java or .NET frameworks, ensuring performance, scalability, and security. Collaborate closely in cross-functional teams , attending SCRUM ceremonies and participating in project planning and sprint reviews. Work effectively with frontend developers (React), UX/UI designers , QA testers , DevOps , and project managers to deliver high-quality software solutions. Translate technical and business requirements into efficient, maintainable backend solutions with a deep understanding of how APIs will be consumed by frontend applications . Implement and maintain API documentation , error handling, and integration standards to support seamless frontend integration and external third-party services. Stay current with industry best practices , emerging backend technologies, and tools, and proactively recommend innovations where applicable. Troubleshoot, diagnose, and resolve backend issues , including bugs and performance bottlenecks, ensuring reliability of systems. Maintain flexibility and adaptability in a dynamic Agile environment , with a passion for clean code , continuous improvement, and robust architecture. Participate in code reviews and contribute to the continuous improvement of backend development standards and practices. Ensure continued professional development by engaging in ongoing learning, accumulating a minimum of 25 CPD points per annum . Carry out additional tasks as required, aligned with the needs of the role, and in a manner that reflects the values and principles of AdapNeo Limited . Qualifications and Education Requirements Bachelors degree in computer science, Engineering, or related field (or equivalent experience). 5+ years of hands-on experience in backend development. Certifications in Java, .NET, AWS, or Azure, Micro Services (preferred but not mandatory). Essential Criteria Proficiency in backend development using Java (Spring Boot) or .NET (ASP.NET Core) , with experience building RESTful APIs . Solid understanding of API design principles , versioning, and best practices for integration with frontend frameworks like React . Experience working with databases (SQL Server, PostgreSQL) including writing and optimizing queries, stored procedures, and schema design. Familiarity with debugging tools , logging frameworks , and ability to interpret backend logs and stack traces to resolve issues efficiently. Commitment to clean code , adherence to SOLID principles , and writing maintainable, testable code. Understanding of backend performance optimization and scalability techniques , including caching and asynchronous processing. Awareness of security best practices for web APIs (e.g., authentication, authorization, OWASP guidelines). Knowledge of CI/CD pipelines , Git version control , and automated testing practices. Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to prioritize and manage workloads effectively in an Agile environment. Willingness to collaborate and communicate effectively with cross-functional teams, including frontend developers, testers, and project stakeholders. Experience working in regulated industries (e.g., finance, healthcare) where compliance , audit trails , or data protection is key. Participation in code reviews , architecture discussions , or technical mentorship within a development team.
