About the role

We are looking for a Backend Engineer with strong Java expertise to help build and scale Swiggy’s high-performance backend systems. You’ll work on services that power millions of users daily, collaborating closely with cross-functional teams to deliver stable, efficient, and scalable backend components.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop backend components and microservices for Swiggy’s platform using Java, Spring Boot, and related frameworks.
• Optimize Java application performance to improve response times, stability, and overall platform efficiency.
• Implement RESTful APIs and integrations to enable seamless user experiences across Swiggy’s services.
• Collaborate with engineering teams to apply Java development best practices, ensuring robust and secure backend solutions.
• Maintain, refactor, and enhance existing backend codebases to support evolving business needs.
• Troubleshoot, debug, and resolve issues in Swiggy’s backend systems to ensure high availability and reliability.
• Participate in code reviews to uphold clean coding standards, performance benchmarks, and maintainable designs.
• Assist in deploying updates, monitoring services, and supporting backend infrastructure initiatives.
• Provide technical guidance and support to cross-functional teams on Java-related queries and improvements.

Ideal candidate profile

What we are looking for / Requirements

• 3+ years

  of professional backend development experience using

  Java

  and

  Spring Boot

  .
• Strong understanding of REST APIs, microservices architecture, and backend system design principles.
• Experience with performance tuning, multithreading, and JVM optimization.
• Good understanding of CI/CD workflows, version control, and cloud-native practices.
• Ability to collaborate closely with multiple teams, communicate complex API behaviors, and deliver solutions quickly.
• Thrives in fast-paced, dynamic environments and adapts swiftly to new challenges.
• Immediate availability is a strong advantage.
