Job Description

1. Main Objective

  • Sell the company’s technology solutions (software / SaaS / IT services / hardware) to business clients.
  • Understand the client’s business problems and show how your tech product can solve them.
  • Achieve sales targets and help grow recurring revenue (subscriptions, licenses, etc.).

2. Key Responsibilities

  • Prospecting & Lead Generation
  • Identify target companies in specific industries (e.g., startups, SMEs, enterprises).
  • Use cold calls, email outreach, LinkedIn, events, and referrals to generate leads.
  • Qualify leads: budget, authority, need, timeline (BANT).
  • Discovery & Solution Selling
  • Talk with decision-makers like CTO, CEO, Product Head, IT Manager, HR Head (for HR tech), etc.
  • Understand their current process, tools, pain points, and technical requirements.
  • Map your product features to their business needs (solution selling, not just pushing features).
  • Product Demos & Presentations
  • Give online or in-person demos (Zoom, Google Meet, at client office).
  • Explain features, use cases, integrations (API, CRM, ERP, etc.), and ROI.
  • Answer technical/basic questions (and loop in Pre-Sales/Tech team for deep technical queries).
  • Negotiation & Deal Closing
  • Share proposals, quotations, pricing plans (monthly/yearly, per user, per license, etc.).
  • Negotiate commercial terms (price, contract length, payment terms).
  • Work with internal teams on legal, SLA, and contract approvals.
  • Close deals and ensure smooth handover to onboarding/support teams.
  • Account Management (Basic)
  • Maintain relationship with key clients.
  • Identify upsell/cross-sell opportunities (higher plans, more users, extra modules).
  • Collect feedback and coordinate with product team for improvements.
  • Reporting & CRM Management
  • Use CRM tools (e.g., HubSpot, Zoho, Salesforce, etc.) to track leads, calls, demos, and pipeline.
  • Share weekly/monthly reports: opportunities, forecast, closed deals, revenue.

3. Required Skills

  • Communication & Presentation
  • Clear spoken and written English (and local language if needed).
  • Ability to explain tech in simple, business language – not too technical.
  • Tech Understanding
  • Basic understanding of:
  • SaaS / cloud concepts
  • APIs and integrations (not coding, just concept)
  • Data security basics (if relevant: GDPR, encryption, etc.)
  • Fast learner for new software and tools.
  • Sales Skills
  • Consultative / solution selling.
  • Handling objections (price, features, competition).
  • Strong negotiation, closing skills, and follow-ups.
  • Tools
  • CRM (HubSpot, Zoho, Salesforce, etc.)
  • Email, Excel/Sheets, presentation tools, video call tools.
  • LinkedIn for lead generation and networking.

4. Typical Qualifications

  • Education: Graduate (BBA, BCA, B.Tech, B.Com, etc.) – but many startups accept good sales talent even without a tech degree.
  • Experience:
  • 0–1 year: Junior/Inside Sales roles.
  • 1–3+ years: B2B tech/SaaS/IT sales preferred.
