Job Overview We are looking for a Senior Full Stack Software Engineer to join our Internal Tools team at Coursera. This team builds high-leverage internal products that support our employees across functions such as content operations, learner support, finance, and legal. As a full stack engineer, you'll lead end-to-end development of scalable tools—shaping architecture, owning technical decisions, and mentoring junior engineers. You'll collaborate cross-functionally to ensure our tools are intuitive, performant, and aligned with business needs. Key Responsibilities Build, scale, and maintain full stack internal web applications that streamline Coursera's operations. Own features end-to-end, from technical design to implementation on both frontend and backend. Collaborate closely with product managers, designers, and end-users to gather feedback and deliver thoughtful solutions. Write high-quality, well-tested code across the stack—leveraging modern frameworks and best practices. Drive architectural discussions and make key design decisions for internal tooling infrastructure. Lead code reviews, mentor junior engineers, and contribute to a culture of continuous improvement. Participate in sprint planning, technical grooming, and retrospective discussions. Ensure reliability, scalability, and security of internal systems through proactive monitoring and automation. Qualifications Education: Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field. Skills & Experience: 4–7 years of experience in software development, with a strong background in both frontend and backend engineering. Proficiency in backend languages like Java, Golang, or Python, and experience designing RESTful APIs. Strong frontend development experience using modern JavaScript frameworks such as React (preferred), Angular, or Vue.js. Solid understanding of HTML, CSS, and responsive design principles. Experience with relational and/or NoSQL databases, version control (Git), and CI/CD workflows. Familiarity with cloud platforms like AWS or GCP, and container technologies like Docker or Kubernetes is a plus. Track record of working cross-functionally and delivering solutions that balance business and technical needs.
