AVP, Controls Assurance

You will be responsible for strengthening internal controls and risk management practices as an Assistant Vice President (AVP) in the Controls Assurance role. Your main duties will include collaborating across departments, conducting control assessments, and providing insights to reduce risk, ensure compliance, and support strategic objectives effectively. Your role will involve executing both ad-hoc and planned assessments to evaluate control design and operating effectiveness in key business areas. You will need to develop detailed test plans, control procedures, and assurance reviews that adhere to internal standards and risk frameworks. Identifying control weaknesses, recommending corrective actions, and communicating key findings to senior stakeholders will be essential for the role. Maintaining a central knowledge hub for control documentation, findings, test results, and training materials will be part of your responsibilities. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to standardize assurance methodologies and promote best practices within the organization. Additionally, contributing to training and upskilling colleagues on risk, controls, and assurance practices will be crucial. To be successful in this role, you should have at least 7 years of experience in Controls Assurance, Risk Testing, Internal Audit, or Governance roles. Expertise in control design and operational effectiveness testing methodologies, as well as knowledge of various risk domains, such as data governance, people/HR risk, and premises resiliency services, will be required. Proficiency in data analytics tools and a Bachelor's degree (or equivalent) are essential, while advanced certifications like CA, CIA, CS, or MBA will be advantageous. Strong stakeholder engagement skills, clear communication abilities, and experience in presenting complex insights confidently are key attributes for this role. Familiarity with process improvement methodologies like LEAN, DMAIC, or value mapping would be beneficial.
