Job Summary:

Automobile Stores Manager

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee the

    entire stores function

    including receiving, inspection, storage, issuance, and dispatch of materials.
  • Maintain accurate

    inventory records

    and ensure stock levels meet production requirements without overstocking.
  • Implement and monitor

    inventory control systems

    using ERP (SAP / Oracle / Tally / similar).
  • Ensure

    proper material identification, tagging, and storage

    as per material type and quality standards.
  • Coordinate closely with

    Purchase, Production, and Quality

    departments to ensure smooth material flow.
  • Conduct

    periodic stock audits, cycle counts, and reconciliation

    with finance and accounts teams.
  • Establish and enforce

    FIFO / LIFO / FEFO

    material management practices.
  • Manage

    inward and outward logistics

    , including documentation, GRN (Goods Receipt Note), and gate entries.
  • Ensure

    safe material handling

    , housekeeping, and compliance with

    5S, safety, and ISO/IATF 16949

    standards.
  • Drive

    continuous improvement

    initiatives to enhance space utilization, material tracking, and process efficiency.
  • Monitor

    obsolete and slow-moving inventory

    and coordinate with relevant teams for timely disposal.
  • Lead, train, and develop the

    stores team

    to maintain high operational standards.

Required Skills & Competencies:

  • Strong understanding of

    automotive materials, components, and consumables

    management.
  • Hands-on experience with

    ERP / MRP systems

    for inventory and stock control.
  • Sound knowledge of

    inventory management techniques

    and

    logistics coordination.

  • Familiarity with

    ISO / IATF 16949 documentation

    , audits, and compliance.
  • Excellent organizational, leadership, and communication skills.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities for managing material discrepancies and shortages.
  • Exposure to

    Lean Stores Management

    ,

    Kanban

    , and

    Just-in-Time (JIT)

    systems preferred.

Educational Qualification:

  • B.E. / B.Tech in Mechanical, Automobile, or Industrial Engineering

    or
  • Graduate in Science / Commerce

    with

    Diploma in Materials Management / Supply Chain Management

  • Inventory accuracy and variance levels
  • On-time material availability for production
  • Reduction in non-moving and obsolete inventory
  • ERP data accuracy and documentation compliance
  • Store layout optimization and space utilization
