Attendant Operator – Chemical Plant

Job Summary: We are seeking a dedicated AOCP (Attendant Operator – Chemical Plant) ITI-qualified candidate for operation and routine maintenance of Sewage Treatment Plants (STP). The operator will be responsible for daily monitoring, basic troubleshooting, chemical handling, and maintaining treatment efficiency in line with environmental discharge or reuse norms. ⸻ Key Responsibilities: • Operate and monitor all STP equipment including pumps, blowers, MBR units, dosing systems, and sludge dewatering units (e.g. screw press). • Monitor and record daily plant parameters such as: • Inlet/Outlet pH, TSS, BOD, COD, DO, MLSS, FRC, ORP • Perform chemical dosing for disinfection, coagulation/flocculation, and pH control (e.g. PAC, alum, caustic, hypo). • Carry out jar tests for polymer and coagulant optimization. • Supervise sludge handling operations, including running screw press/centrifuge and proper sludge disposal. • Maintain daily log sheets and ensure smooth functioning of automation panels, pumps, valves, and air systems. • Report to plant in-charge regarding abnormalities, breakdowns, or any non-compliance. • Ensure safe handling of chemicals and adherence to EHS protocols. • Assist during plant start-up, shutdown, and maintenance activities. • Support during sample collection and liaison with lab or environment officer if needed. ⸻ Qualifications: • ITI – AOCP (Attendant Operator – Chemical Plant) – Completed from a recognized institute • Freshers or candidates with 1–3 years of STP/ETP/WTP plant operation experience preferred • Basic knowledge of water chemistry and waste water treatment processes (especially MBR or activated sludge process) ⸻ Skills Required: • Understanding of basic STP process flow, MLSS growth, aeration, disinfection • Ability to operate control panels (MCC/PLC/SCADA) • Hands-on experience with chemical dosing systems and sludge handling • Recordkeeping, logbook maintenance, shift reporting • Alertness in observing process changes and communicating issues ⸻ Work Conditions: • Rotational shifts (day/night) • Field-based job – must be physically fit and alert • Accommodation may be provided (if project-based)
