Position Summary
We have an exciting opportunity for a motivated Technical Writer to join the Facilities Engineering Team, part of Bentley Systems. Facilities Engineering is responsible for advancing infrastructure software and services for Plant, Building and Structural Engineering domains. As an Associate Technical Writer, you will work closely with other Technical Writers, Quality Assurance Engineers, Software Developers and Product Managers to develop high quality software documentation.
Your Day-to-Day
- Author, update and maintain product documentation.
- Work closely with SMEs (developers, QA testers, product managers, etc.) for information gathering and documentation reviews.
- Prepare drafts of documentation for review by SMEs.
- Work on revisions based on feedback received.
- Raise Pull Requests for documentation updates and fixes.
- Use GIT – ADO repositories and Oxygen XML Author to produce documentation outputs.
- Produce high quality documentation and ensure timely completion of documentation tasks.
- Collaborate with colleagues in an agile, fast-paced work environment.
- Manage time efficiently to complete tasks on time with focus on quality.
- This is a full-time role expected to work 40 hours per week, based in our Pune, India office.
What You Bring To The Team
- 1-3 years of technical writing experience in the Software products and services industry (familiarity with CAD, BIM, or GIS software is desirable).
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering (Civil, Mechanical, Architecture), Diploma or Certificate in Technical Writing/Communications, experience in writing technical documents, white papers, etc.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.
- Experience with using DITA/ XML authoring tools like Oxygen XML Author, Adobe FrameMaker, XMetal Author or similar
- Familiarity with GIT-ADO and Content Management Systems (CMS) is desirable
- Graphics editing tools like Camtasia, Sangit Editor, or similar.
- Ability to understand complex technical concepts and convert them to simple and effective user manuals
- Knowledge of the Microsoft Manual of Style (MSTP) or Chicago Manual of Style for Technical Writing is desirable
