Job Overview
Associate Product Manager
While the Senior PM drives the overarching strategy for our enterprise ecosystem, you will be the specialist focusing on our data product. You will be responsible for transforming raw learning and behavioral data into actionable insights, dashboards, and visualization features for our customers (Enterprises, Instructors, and Admins).
This role is not for a fresher. We need someone with 2-3 years of experience who understands how data products are built, who loves digging into Google Analytics/Tableau/Mixpanel to understand user behavior, and who can translate complex data requirements into clear user stories for engineering and design teams.
Key Responsibilities
1. Product Audit & Platform Optimization (Gap Analysis)
Audit & Benchmarking:
Conduct a rigorous audit of the existing Starweaver Analytics platform to uncover gaps in functionality, data inconsistencies, and usability flaws. Revamp Existing Flows:
actively identify and refactor inefficient user workflows. You will look at legacy features with a fresh pair of eyes and propose optimizations to reduce friction, improve load times, and enhance data readability. Continuous Improvement:
Establish a cycle of analyzing production data to spot underperforming features, prioritizing fixes that yield the highest value for the least technical debt.
2. Technical Specifications & Requirements Engineering
Bridge Business & Tech:
Act as the primary translator between the "what" (Business goals/Senior PM vision) and the "how" (Engineering execution). Constraint Management:
Deeply understand the underlying data architecture and technical constraints. You must proactively discuss feasibility with engineers before finalizing specs to avoid designing solutions that are impossible or too costly to build. Robust Documentation:
Write detailed JIRA stories and PRDs (Product Requirements Documents) that include happy paths, edge cases, error states, and data validation logic to leave zero ambiguity for developers.
3. Product Ownership & Roadmap Execution
- Collaborate with the Senior Product Manager to maintain the backlog for the Analytics platform.
- Prioritize tickets based on a mix of new feature requests, bug fixes, and necessary refactoring of existing code.
- Ensure that Starweaver Analytics aligns with the broader ecosystem (Boostr, JourneyBuilder) by standardizing how data is shared and visualized across platforms.
4. Quality Assurance (QA) & Data Validation
The "Final Gatekeeper":
Take full ownership of User Acceptance Testing (UAT). You are responsible for signing off on releases, ensuring that what was built matches what was specified. Data Accuracy Testing:
Specifically for our Analytics product, you must rigorously test data reports against the raw database. You will ensure calculations, aggregations, and visualizations are 100% accurate before they reach the client. Regression Monitoring:
Keep a pulse on existing functionality to ensure that new code commits do not break previously working flows.
5. Data Analysis & Insight Generation
- Act as the "Power User" of internal analytics tools (Google Analytics, Mixpanel, internal logs).
- Analyze user behavior not just to report on it, but to understand how users are struggling with the current platform, using that data to justify product improvements.
Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)
Product Delivery:
Maintain a consistent sprint velocity with >90% of committed user stories delivered per cycle. Data Integrity:
Achieve near zero bugs regarding data accuracy in production reports. Feature Adoption:
Drive measurable engagement usage of the Analytics Dashboards by enterprise clients. Stakeholder Satisfaction:
High feedback ratings from the Engineering and Design teams regarding the clarity of requirements and JIRA tickets.
Qualifications
Education
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Data Analytics, Business, or related field.
Experience
2 to 3 years
of relevant product management or business analysis experience (No freshers). Proven track record of optimizing existing products:
Must demonstrate experience where you analyzed a live product, identified flaws, and executed a plan to improve it (not just building 0-to-1 features). - Experience working closely with engineering teams to dissect technical limitations and find workarounds.
- Experience writing test cases for complex, data-driven applications.
Technical Skills
Data Fluency:
Strong familiarity with Google Analytics, Looker, Tableau, or PowerBI. SQL Knowledge:
Ability to run basic SQL queries to validate if the data shown in the UI matches the database is highly desirable. Specification Tools:
Mastery of JIRA/Confluence for documenting edge cases and technical requirements.
Core Competencies
Analytical Thinking:
You rely on data, not gut feeling, to make decisions. You enjoy finding patterns in numbers. Detail-Oriented:
In data products, precision is everything. You spot inconsistencies that others miss. Structured Communication:
Ability to break down complex data problems into simple language for developers and designers. Ownership:
You are a self-starter who can take a vague requirement like "We need better reporting" and turn it into a concrete feature set. Agile:
Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and can adapt to multiple requirements at a given time. Experience in startups is preferred.
Benefits
- Competitive salary and performance-based bonuses.
- Opportunity to be the product owner of a high-impact analytics platform.
- Access to a global network of educators, designers, and technology experts.
- Opportunity to contribute to innovative educational technology solutions.
