Job Purpose:
This role is responsible to drive commercial analytics, regulatory compliance, and Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) optimization to maximize revenue outcomes. The role provides financial, operational, and regulatory insights on coal procurement, transportation, and generation while supporting cross-functional verticals to optimize costs, ensure regulatory alignment, and improve profitability across the power value chain.
Responsibilities
- Monitoring of Imported coal procurement, planning, execution, vessel planning and documentation
- Fuel cost optimization, support in domestic coal procurement
- Ensure availability of reliable and optimised coal Logistics for road movement & arranging suppliers for fuel ancillary services
- Revenue Optimization & Drive policy advocacy in key areas in sector
- To monitor optimum utiliaztion of available capacity for Short Term / Merchant sales, MOD Analysis for long term PPAs
- Monitoring implementation of regulatory orders on Compensatory Tariff, Change in Law to ensure compliance
- Merger & Acquisitions Analyse the proposal, NPV, IRR Analysis, Due diligence
- Efficient Cashflow Planning by monitoring fund blockage
- Attract & Retain talent, Develop strong leadership bench & capabilities
- Ensure ESG and Risk related processes are identified, embedded in the organization, mitigation measures implementation to mitigate risks.
- Monitoring of Import coal procurement planning in a way to achieve plant availability in accordance with the PPA terms ensuring cost optimization for Imported coal-based plants.
- Monitoring Domestic Coal Rake Program, coal cost on routine basis to ensure compliance with Budget and highlighting difference with its financial impact to management on immediate basis
- Ensuring timely availability of coal by streamlining road logistics activities in line with planned generation at various TPPs.
- Monitoring optimum level of Inventory & fund blockage with coal companies for efficient cashflow planning
- To monitor timely and accurate Invoice raising under Long Term PPA and Short-Term Sales Arrangement for Power Sale, Compensatory Tariff, Change in Law invoices etc.
- Analysing Merit Order Despatch of States and devising strategy for optimum PLF of the station keeping in mind various factors such as Coal Cost, Recovery under PPAs, Coal Stock & Planning etc.
- Support bidding team in preparation of Financial Bids, analyse financial proposal, validation of assumptions, financial model etc. for power sale & M&A bids
Qualifications
- Educational Qualification:
Bachelors or Masters degree in Finance, Economics, Business Administration, or a related field.
Work Experience (Range Of Years)
- 15+ years of experience in the field of Thermal Plant Revenue and Fuel areas
- Knowledge of Regulatory framework for Thermal business in India
- Experience in the field of Financial Modelling
- Experience in managing team and heading department
- Overall monitoring of various function of Commercial Controller team to ensure EBIDTA levels as set in Budget are met
