Job Description

Position Overview

The Assistant Professor of Pharmaceutical Chemistry will contribute to the academic, research, and service mission of the department. The successful candidate will deliver high-quality instruction, conduct impactful research, mentor students, and participate in curriculum development and departmental activities.

Key Responsibilities

1. Teaching & Academic Responsibilities

  • Teach undergraduate and/or postgraduate courses in Pharmaceutical Chemistry and related areas (e.g., Medicinal Chemistry, Organic Chemistry, Analytical Chemistry, Drug Design).
  • Supervise laboratory sessions, practicals, and tutorials.
  • Develop course materials, assessments, and innovative teaching methodologies.
  • Guide B.Pharm/M.Pharm/PhD students in academic projects, theses, and dissertation work.
  • Maintain high academic standards in compliance with institutional and regulatory guidelines.

2. Research & Scholarly Activity

  • Conduct independent and collaborative research in pharmaceutical/medicinal chemistry or related fields.
  • Publish regularly in peer-reviewed journals and present at national/international conferences.
  • Apply for external/internal research funding and lead funded research projects.
  • Build and maintain interdisciplinary research collaborations.

3. Student Mentorship & Advising

  • Provide academic advising and career guidance to students.
  • Mentor students in research projects, publications, and scientific development.
  • Promote a supportive, inclusive, and research-driven learning environment.

4. Institutional & Professional Service

  • Participate in departmental committees, curriculum planning, accreditation processes, and quality assurance activities.
  • Contribute to community outreach programs, workshops, and seminars.
  • Assist in laboratory management, equipment maintenance, and safety compliance.
  • Represent the department at professional forums and institutional events.

Required Qualifications

  • Masters. in Pharmaceutical Chemistry / Medicinal Chemistry / Organic Chemistry or a closely related discipline.
  • Strong record of research publications in reputable journals.
  • Demonstrated teaching ability at the undergraduate or graduate level.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
