Assistant Operations Manager

Role & responsibilities

• Support the Floor Manager in supervising daily warehouse or distribution floor activities.
• Oversee receiving, picking, packing, shipping, and inventory processes to ensure accuracy and efficiency.
• Assign tasks and monitor the performance of warehouse associates, forklift operators, and material handlers.
• Ensure compliance with health, safety, and quality standards.
• Assist in onboarding, training, and mentoring new staff on standard operating procedures (SOPs).
• Identify and resolve operational bottlenecks, delays, or staffing issues in real time.
• Conduct routine inspections to ensure equipment and warehouse areas are clean, safe, and organized.
• Work with inventory control teams to perform cycle counts and resolve discrepancies.
• Track KPIs and prepare reports on floor productivity, labor hours, and shipment accuracy.
• Collaborate with other departments (transportation, procurement, customer service) to coordinate workflow.

Preferred candidate profile

• High school diploma or equivalent (Associate or Bachelors degree in logistics, supply chain, or business is a plus).
  
• 2+ years of experience in a warehouse or logistics environment, with supervisory responsibilities preferred.
• Solid understanding of logistics operations, inventory systems, and warehouse processes.
• Strong organizational, leadership, and problem-solving skills.
• Comfortable using WMS (Warehouse Management Systems) and basic Microsoft Office tools.
