Job Title: Assistant Manager Quality

Division/Company/Entity: ASSA ABLOY (SMI)

Location: Jamnagar

Department: Quality

Reports to: Manager - Quality

Does this job have supervisory responsibilities? Yes

Number of reports: 10

Region of reports: Jamnagar

Position Summary

This position will be responsible for in process quality checking of various divisions such as Grinding & Buffing, Electroplating, Satin, Lacquer, Press Shop, Paint Shop, Pressure Zinc Die-casting and Machine Shop and provide support within Operations as far as resolutions on various Quality issues.

Roles and Responsibilities:

Quality Management & Compliance

  • Ensure compliance with ISO 9001, BIS and other relevant standards.
  • Lead internal and external audits.
  • Develop and maintain control plans, FMEAs, and other quality documentation.
  • Monitor and report on KPIs like PPM, scrap and rework.

Problem Solving & Corrective Actions

  • Identify root causes of quality issues and implement permanent corrective actions.
  • Lead Internal & External CAPA (Corrective and Preventive Action) processes.
  • Stop production when unacceptable goods or processes are identified.

Process Improvement

  • Apply Six Sigma, Lean, and other continuous improvement methodologies.
  • Conduct product and process audits.
  • Support new product introductions and ensure robust quality planning.

Supplier & Customer Interaction

  • Manage supplier quality performance and coordinate issue resolution.
  • Interface with customers regarding quality concerns and audits.
  • Ensure customer-specific requirements are met.

Leadership & Collaboration

  • Mentor junior engineers and technicians.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams including R&D, production, and procurement.
  • Lead quality-related projects and initiatives.

Skills & Abilities Required:

Technical Skills

  • Proficiency in SPC, MSA, FMEA, PPAP, APQP.
  • Strong understanding of engineering drawings and manufacturing processes.
  • Experience with metrology tools like Profile Projector, Hardness Tester and other testing equipments.

Soft Skills

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Leadership and team collaboration capabilities.

Education Qualification & Experience required:

  • Graduate in Mechanical Engineering with a minimum of 3 Years of experience Or
  • Diploma in Mechanical Engineering with a minimum of 8 years of experience
  • Preferred experience of working in an Automotive/Architectural hardware industry
