Job Description

Job Summary:

We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Procurement Assistant Manager to lead our sourcing and procurement activities within the medical device manufacturing industry. The ideal candidate will develop and implement strategic procurement initiatives, manage supplier relationships, ensure cost-effectiveness, and uphold compliance with all relevant Indian regulations and industry standards.

Role & responsibilities

  • Develop and implement procurement strategies, policies, and procedures aligned with organizational goals and cost targets.
  • Identify, evaluate, and onboard suppliers; establish and maintain strong supplier relationships to ensure quality, reliability, and competitive pricing.
  • Lead negotiations for contracts, pricing, and terms to achieve the best value and risk mitigation for the company.
  • Manage procurement budgets, track spending, and deliver cost savings while maintaining quality standards.
  • Ensure compliance with Indian procurement laws, GST regulations, and company policies; proactively assess supplier risks and develop mitigation plans.
  • Continuously monitor supplier performance against KPIs (quality, delivery, cost) and drive improvements.
  • Partner with production, quality, R&D, and finance teams to forecast material requirements and streamline supply chain processes.
  • Stay updated on industry trends, market conditions, and innovations in procurement practices to inform sourcing strategies.

Preferred candidate profile

  • Bachelors degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, Logistics, or a related field (Master’s preferred).
  • Minimum 5 years of progressive experience in procurement, sourcing, or supply chain management with at least 3 years in medical device industry.
  • Certifications (Preferred): CPSM, CPM, or equivalent certifications in procurement/supply chain management.

Key Skills & Competencies

  • Strong analytical, negotiation, and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication abilities.
  • Proficiency in procurement software/ERP systems (SAP, Oracle, etc.).
  • Thorough understanding of procurement laws, regulations, and best practices in India.
  • Ability to build and maintain strategic relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Adaptability to changing supplier dynamics, market conditions, and organizational priorities.

Additional Requirements

  • In-depth knowledge of Indian suppliers, logistics landscape, and GST compliance.
  • Experience in handling quality and regulatory requirements specific to medical devices.
  • Proven track record of cost savings and process optimization in procurement.
