Assistant Manager - NPCD (New Product Component Development)

Role & responsibilities

• Experience in development of engine proprietary parts after receipt of SOR / technical requirements from R&D.
• Proprietary parts include FIE system components for Diesel and CNG engines.
• Electrical components include liquid pumps, starter motors, alternators, etc. Electronic components include EGR valves, sensors, regulators, controllers, etc.
• Mechanical components include EGR coolers, air filters, oil filters, oil pumps, water pumps, engine cooling systems, seals, bushes, bearings, thermostats, etc.
• Ability to obtain and finalize technical proposals with suppliers in alignment with R&D requirements.
• Engage with suppliers from the initial stage, especially for new technology introduction, while ensuring optimal cost.

Preparation, monitoring, and adherence to APQP timelines.

Should possess strong knowledge of the SAP MM module.

• Well-versed with NPI processes and gates, ECN/ERN, PLM, development monitoring as per gate requirements, drawing control, and purchase enquiries.
• Planning and conducting DFMEA discussions for DVP finalization and monitoring.
• Review and resolution of manufacturing and design-related issues in coordination with R&D.
• Supplier identification and recommendation for RFQ activities.
• Negotiation and finalization of prototype and SOP costs; ability to prepare detailed costings for proprietary parts.
• Development of critical new product components for prototype, pilot batch, and SOP stages.
• After sample approval, initiation of component-level engineering validation, release of production drawings, and PPAP activities.
• Project performance review with respect to raw material cost and lead time.
• Project costing, cost budgeting, review, and continuous monitoring.
• Material planning as per project requirements to ensure timely project launch.
• Generation and execution of cost-saving initiatives in collaboration with CFT.
• Experience in handling internal and external audits.
• Planning and maintenance of the overall supplier audit schedule.
• Verification of PPAP documents received from suppliers; conducting supplier audits, studying process capability, and obtaining PSW sign-off.
• Monitoring part supplies to ensure required quality and delivery levels.
• Final handover of part and/or project.

Knowledge:

• Adequate knowledge of Manufacturing Processes
• IC Engine components
• Generator set components
• Expertise in TS16949
• TPM, Effective Communication, Knowledge of SAP etc.
• Should possess strong knowledge of the SAP MM module
