Assist in developing, implementing, and maintaining the EHS management system (aligned with ISO 45001 / local statutory requirements).
Conduct periodic risk assessments, hazard identification, job safety analysis (JSA), and update risk registers.
Monitor and enforce safety policies: permit-to-work, lockout-tagout (LOTO), confined-space entry, hot work permits, electrical safety, lifting & rigging, etc.
Promote safe work practices, conduct safety walks, inspections, audits, and identify non-conformities.
Lead incident / near-miss investigations, root cause analysis, corrective / preventive action (CAPA) implementation.
Maintain records of accidents, injuries, first aid, and environment & safety metrics.
Coordinate with medical / first aid providers; manage health surveillance, PPE issuance, training, and safety campaigns.
Ensure contractor / vendor safety compliance while on site (induction, supervision, audits).
Support development and implementation of environmental policy compliant with ISO 14001.
Monitor environmental aspects & impacts (emissions, effluents, waste generation, noise, chemical handling).
Ensure proper waste management (hazardous & nonhazardous), segregation, storage, disposal in compliance with local regulations and permits.
Monitor and maintain air emissions, stack monitoring, drainage / wastewater treatment systems, spill response & control.
Liaise with regulatory bodies (pollution control boards etc.) for environmental permits, reporting, audits.
Conduct environment audits, internal inspections, and track non-conformances, corrective actions.
Ensure compliance with statutory safety, health, and environmental regulations (central / state / factory acts / hazardous chemicals rules etc.).
Prepare and submit EHS reports (monthly / quarterly) to top management: incident rates, audit results, training status, corrective actions, performance trends.
Support internal audits, thirdparty / customer / regulatory audits; follow up on audit observations and close non-conformities.
Maintain EHS documentation: procedures, policies, manuals, registers, permits, training records etc.
Plan, schedule, and deliver EHS training for employees, supervisors, contract staff (orientation, refresher, job-specific).
Promote safety awareness, campaigns, signage, toolbox talks, behavior-based safety initiatives.
Engage employees in EHS committees, feedback loops, suggestion systems, safety culture development.
Define, monitor and track EHS KPIs: TRIR, LTIFR, near-miss reporting, audit findings closure rate, training coverage, environmental metrics (waste, emissions).
Analyze EHS data and trends to identify improvement areas and drive initiatives to reduce risk, incidents, costs.
Bachelors degree in Safety Engineering / Environmental Engineering / Chemical Engineering / Mechanical Engineering (with specialization or certification in safety) or equivalent.
5+ years (or depends on seniority) of experience in EHS / safety / environment roles, preferably in heavy fabrication, process / pressure equipment, or manufacturing of large equipment.
Exposure to welding shops, pressure vessels, handling heavy loads, painting / chemical treatment, process environment, etc.
Strong knowledge of EHS standards: ISO 45001, ISO 14001, local statutory regulations (Factories Act, Environmental Protection laws, Hazardous Chemicals Rules etc.).
Familiarity with process / manufacturing hazards: welding fume, noise, chemicals, confined space, high pressure, lifting / rigging, thermal hazards.
Ability to conduct safety / environment audits, risk assessments, incident investigations (root cause, 5 Why / Fishbone etc.).
Proficient in data analysis, metrics, trending, reporting tools.
Good communication skills to influence stakeholders, train employees, lead EHS culture.
Leadership and coordination skills to work across functions (engineering, operations, maintenance).
Certification (NEBOSH / IOSH / IH / safety diploma) is a plus.
Works closely with: Production, Maintenance, Quality, Engineering, HR, Environment, Procurement
Onsite presence on shop floor, fabrication, assembly, testing areas
May need to intervene in emergency situations, inspections at odd hours, extended shifts
Field audits, vendor / subcontractor sites visits may be required
