About the Role

Assistant Manager Appeals

Key Responsibilities

  • Supervise and manage a team of Appeals Specialists handling insurance claim denials.
  • Review denial trends and develop strategies to improve overturn rates and reduce recurring denials.
  • Draft, review, and submit

    appeal letters

    with supporting clinical and coding documentation.
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders (coding, billing, and operations) to resolve denial root causes.
  • Train and mentor team members on appeal processes, payer requirements, and compliance standards.
  • Monitor KPIs:

    Appeals turnaround time, success rate, denial recovery rate, and productivity benchmarks

    .
  • Escalate complex appeal cases to payers and ensure timely follow-up until resolution.
  • Ensure compliance with HIPAA, payer policies, and internal RCM protocols.

Requirements

  • 5-7 years of experience in RCM

    , with at least

    2+ years in Appeals/Denials Management

    .
  • Strong understanding of

    US healthcare payer policies, denial codes, and appeal regulations

    .
  • Hands-on experience in writing effective appeal letters and supporting documentation.
  • Team leadership/people management experience.
  • Proficiency with RCM/medical billing software and MS Office tools.
  • Excellent communication, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
