Assistant Manager - Automation & Instrumentation Maintenance

Role Purpose

To lead the automation and electrical & instrumentation (E&I) maintenance team in a beverage plant, ensuring smooth operation of automated systems, production equipment, and instrumentation while minimizing downtime and maintaining safety and quality standards.

Key Responsibilities

Team Leadership & Coordination

• Lead and supervise a team of technicians for automation, electrical, and instrumentation maintenance.
• Plan, allocate, and monitor daily maintenance activities and ensure adherence to SOPs.
• Conduct training and skill development for team members on safety, troubleshooting, and preventive maintenance.

Automation & E&I Maintenance

• Troubleshoot, maintain, and repair PLCs, SCADA systems, HMI panels, and other automation equipment.
• Maintain and calibrate instrumentation (flow meters, pressure sensors, level sensors, temperature controllers, etc.).
• Oversee electrical systems including motors, drives, starters, switchgears, and panels.

Preventive & Predictive Maintenance

• Implement preventive and predictive maintenance schedules for automation and E&I systems.
• Analyze equipment performance and recommend improvements or upgrades to reduce breakdowns.
• Maintain accurate maintenance logs, downtime records, and performance reports.

Safety & Compliance

• Ensure compliance with EHS, GMP, and electrical safety standards.
• Conduct regular safety audits and risk assessments for maintenance activities.
• Promote a safety-first culture within the team and production area.

Production Support & Continuous Improvement

• Support production teams during line setups, breakdowns, and trials.
• Suggest process improvements, energy-saving initiatives, and automation enhancements.
• Coordinate with vendors and contractors for specialized maintenance or equipment installation.

Qualifications & Skills

• Education

  :
• Diploma / B.Tech in Electrical / Electronics / Instrumentation / Automation Engineering.

• Experience

  :
• 58 years in maintenance of automation and E&I systems, preferably in the beverage
• Experience in leading a team of technicians is required.

• Skills

  :
• Hands-on knowledge of PLCs (Siemens, Allen Bradley, etc.), SCADA/HMI systems.
• Electrical troubleshooting, instrumentation calibration, and automation systems expertise.
• Strong leadership, problem-solving, and team coordination skills.
• Familiarity with preventive maintenance, predictive maintenance tools, and ERP maintenance modules.
