Assistant Editor: ELT

Requirements:

• A Master’s degree or higher in English, Linguistics or ELT
• Expert-level command of the English language and its grammar
• Well read, curious and creative, with eclectic interests across multiple knowledge streams
• Ability to write and edit content for different age groups of language learners
• Demonstrable experience in handling educational content projects
• Versatility to develop content across publishing modes: print, digital and online
• Proficiency in the responsible and ethical use of generative AI tools, with clear understanding that AI may be used to assist, not replace, human thinking, judgement and authorship, and that all final content must reflect human editorial agency

Responsibilities

• Take ownership of assigned ELT publishing projects, tracking tasks, timelines and deliverables under guidance
• Ensure content is publication-ready and meets all editorial and publishing standards
• Maintain grammatical, stylistic and pedagogical accuracy at every editorial stage
• Coordinate with authors, freelance writers, illustrators, designers, typesetters, proofreaders and other vendors to ensure timely and quality outputs
• Visualise and brief illustrations, layouts and design elements for various types of text
• Track project progress, remain responsive in communication and flag roadblocks or issues in a timely manner
• Script, direct and present instructional videos as required
• Organise and supervise audio recording sessions with voice artists for multimedia projects
• Prepare scripts for animated lessons and oversee their execution in coordination with technical teams
• Implement market and classroom feedback innovatively to improve product quality and competitiveness
• Prepare publicity, training and support material for marketing teams
• Conduct product orientation and training sessions for marketing personnel and teachers

Experience

• 1–2 years’ experience in educational or school book publishing, or instructional design
• Candidates without prior experience may be considered for a trainee role
