Job Description

We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Assistant Accounts Manager to join our finance team. The ideal candidate should have a strong foundation in accounting principles, financial reporting, and compliance, along with proven experience in managing a team. The candidate will be responsible for overseeing day-to-day financial operations, ensuring accuracy in reporting, assisting in audits, and leading team members to achieve departmental goals.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage and oversee day-to-day accounting operations including accounts payable, receivable, ledger maintenance, and reconciliations.
  • Lead and mentor a team of accountants/executives, ensuring accuracy, efficiency, and adherence to deadlines.
  • Assist in the preparation and review of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.
  • Ensure timely compliance with statutory requirements including GST, TDS, income tax, and other regulatory filings.
  • Coordinate with auditors during internal and external audits by preparing necessary documentation and addressing queries.
  • Support budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis to aid decision-making.
  • Maintain accuracy, integrity, and compliance of financial records and reports.
  • Implement and monitor strong internal controls and company policies.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to resolve accounting-related queries and support business operations.

Required Qualifications and Skills

  • Bachelors or masters degree in Accounting, Finance, or Commerce.
  • Minimum 4-6 years of experience in accounting or finance, with at least 1 year in a managerial/team-leading role.
  • Strong knowledge of accounting principles, tax regulations, and financial reporting.
  • Hands-on experience with accounting software such as Tally, SAP, or ERP systems.
  • Excellent Excel skills and working knowledge of MS Office Suite.
  • Proven ability to manage and mentor a team, delegate tasks effectively, and ensure performance delivery.
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills.

Preferred Background

  • Experience in handling audits and regulatory compliance.
  • Exposure to corporate or mid-sized business finance functions.
  • Demonstrated ability to improve processes and strengthen financial controls.
