Position Summary: An Art and Craft Teacher is responsible for teaching students various artistic techniques, encouraging creativity, and helping them develop their artistic abilities. The teacher guides students in exploring different materials, techniques, and mediums to express themselves artistically. They also play a crucial role in nurturing students' appreciation for art and craft.

Key Responsibilities:

Curriculum Development: Design and implement lesson plans that are age-appropriate, creative, and align with educational standards. Develop a curriculum that includes a variety of art forms such as drawing, painting, sculpture, and craft making. Integrate art history and appreciation into lessons to provide students with context and a deeper understanding of different art styles and movements.

Instruction: Teach students the fundamentals of art, including color theory, composition, and perspective. Demonstrate various techniques in drawing, painting, sculpting, and crafting. Provide individual and group instruction, adapting teaching methods to meet the needs of different learners. Encourage students to experiment with different mediums and materials.

Student Engagement: Inspire creativity and foster an inclusive and supportive classroom environment. Provide constructive feedback to students on their work and help them improve their skills. Organize and oversee student projects, exhibitions, and art shows.

Classroom Management: Maintain a clean, organized, and safe classroom environment. Ensure that all materials are used responsibly and that students follow safety guidelines. Manage classroom behavior and ensure a positive and productive learning environment.

Assessment and Reporting: Assess student progress through observations, critiques, and formal assessments. Keep records of student achievements and areas for improvement. Communicate with parents/guardians about student progress and any concerns.

Professional Development: Stay updated on current trends and developments in art education. Participate in workshops, seminars, and other professional development opportunities. Collaborate with other teachers and staff to integrate art into the broader curriculum.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Art Education, Fine Arts, or a related field.
• Teaching certification (where applicable).
• Experience in teaching art and craft to children or adults.
• Strong knowledge of various art techniques and materials.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Creativity and passion for the arts.
• Patience and the ability to work with students of all skill levels.

Preferred Skills:

• Proficiency in digital art and design tools.
• Experience in organizing and curating art exhibitions.
• Ability to teach art history alongside practical skills.
