Job Profile: Area Sales Manager :

Key Responsibilities

1. Distributor Management

  • Relationship building
  • Regularly monitor the stock levels at the distributors and ensure availability of stock
  • Identify and trouble shoot issues by conducting periodic visits

2. Planning & Monitoring

  • Strategize & leverage product launches
  • Monthly Sales planning and forecasting, Month wise business forecasting, bench marking the previous year.
  • Monitoring data/sales on daily/weekly/fortnightly & monthly basis & ensuring the same are in alignment with the Annual goals/targets.


3. Sales Volume

  • Deliver the sales volume target by developing the market in the assigned territory as per the Annual Operating Plan
  • Primary and secondary target achievement of the area
  • Add new retailers/outlets which should contribute to achieving annual volume/value targets

4. Market Execution

  • Drive sales volumes of FMO (Focus of the Month) products and increase the Unique SKU count in the outlet and ensure Product range availability
  • Required to closely work with relevant stakeholders to align the stock requirement & branding (BTL activities, if any) as per the plan in the Region


5. Market Knowledge

  • Track competitor activity on a continuous basis and act to counter competitor strategies to increase market share


6. Team Management

  • Allocation of manpower in different areas depending upon the individual capabilities
  • Conducting review meetings on a weekly basis, understanding the business issues and supporting the team to resolve in a timely manner.
  • Monitor, mentor, motivate and train the team in products & sales skills leading to business generation.
  • Identify the key talents, help them nurture and enhance their capability to take up more responsibilities. Monitor progress against the plan in the Weekly Commitment Meetings and Monthly planning meetings.

Qualifications & Skills:

  • Strong experience (8 - 10 years) within a large Indian or multinational organization preferably within the FMCG industry with a major focus on Rural Channel & General Trade
  • Any graduate with master's degree in Sales/Marketing.
  • Proficiency in using MS-Office suite
  • Should possess Strong analytical, problem solving & organizational abilities
  • Should possess exceptional relationship management skills & interpersonal skills
  • Good team handling skills & an effective communicator.
