Job Summary

Application Support Engineer

Key Responsibilities

• Provide Level 2/3 support for a legacy enterprise application.
• Troubleshoot Java-based backend services and MySQL database-related issues.
• Monitor and resolve issues in Oracle 7.9 server environment.
• Perform regular package and patch updates for the application stack.
• Maintain and support RESTful APIs and ensure CRUD operations function smoothly.
• Collaborate with infrastructure and network teams for server-level issues.
• Work on incident, change, and problem management using standard ITIL practices.
• Document known issues, solutions, and update knowledge base.
• Coordinate with end-users or functional teams to gather feedback and implement fixes.

Required Skills

• Strong hands-on experience with 

  Java 6.0

   (Servlets, JSP, JDBC, legacy APIs).
• Good understanding of 

  MySQL 5.5

   (queries, indexing, optimization, backup/restore).
• Experience working with 

  RESTful web services

   and legacy 

  CRUD APIs

  .
• Familiarity with 

  Oracle 7.9

   server administration and troubleshooting.
• Experience with 

  package deployment, patch management

  , and release cycles.
• Basic Linux/Unix shell scripting knowledge for system-level tasks.
• Good understanding of application logs and server-side debugging.

Preferred Skills

• Exposure to legacy systems and migration strategies.
• Experience with monitoring tools and performance tuning.
• Knowledge of version control (SVN/Git) and CI/CD tools (if any used).

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field.
• Certifications in Java or Database Administration are a plus.

Work Conditions

• On-site
• Flexible timing but with SLA-bound issue resolution.
• Available for on-call or after-hours support (as per client requirement).
