Job Title: Polishing & Lapping - Application Engineering (Senior Engineer / Assistant Manager / Manager) Job Summary: We are seeking a highly knowledgeable and experienced engineer specializing in polishing and lapping machines to deliver technical leadership, support process optimization, and drive innovation in precision surface finishing applications. The selected candidate will serve as the subject matter expert for polishing and lapping technologies, encompassing equipment selection, process parameters, tooling, and quality control. Requirements: Bachelors or Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Materials Science, Manufacturing Engineering, or a related discipline 8 to 10 years of hands-on experience with polishing and lapping machines in a high-precision manufacturing environment Experience with both single-side and double-side lapping/polishing systems is highly desirable In-depth knowledge of surface finishing principles, abrasive selection, process control, and metrology Key Responsibilities: Provide expert guidance on the selection, operation, and maintenance of polishing/lapping machines Optimize processes to achieve target surface finish, flatness, and dimensional tolerances across materials such as metals, ceramics, and glass Drive development and qualification of new polishing and lapping equipment Troubleshoot complex equipment and process issues, and recommend corrective actions Collaborate with cross-functional teams to enhance productivity, yield, and process consistency Evaluate and qualify new equipment, abrasives, pads, slurries, and other consumables Interface with vendors and suppliers to stay updated on industry trends, new technologies, and process innovations Create and maintain Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), process specifications, and technical documentation Preferred Skills: Strong problem-solving and analytical skills Ability to lead technical discussions and projects Excellent communication and collaboration abilities Continuous improvement mindset with focus on precision manufacturing
