Announcement For the post of Project Associate

The selected candidates will primarily focus on research and development of blockchain systems and decentralized technologies. The project involves:

• Designing and implementing efficient algorithms and data structures to solve real-world problems in blockchain and distributed systems.
• Developing and benchmarking blockchain applications, smart contracts, and consensus mechanisms using various platforms (e.g., Hyperledger Fabric, Hedera, Solana, Hyperledger besu, Algorand, or similar frameworks).
• Contributing to open-ended research questions in blockchain scalability, security, and interoperability, and their use in real-world decentralized applications.
• The position offers candidates the opportunity to engage with cutting-edge decentralized technologies, collaborate with academic and industry partners, and contribute to impactful research and development.

Candidates will have the opportunity to work on cutting-edge data management technologies in collaboration with academic and industry partners and will contribute significantly to ongoing research projects.

Desirable Skills:

• Prior hands-on experience with data structures, algorithms, and problem-solving.
• Familiarity with the basics of distributed systems or an interest in learning concepts such as reliability, performance, and coordination in large-scale systems.
• Familiarity with fundamentals of distributed systems and their integration.
• Strong programming skills with proficiency in languages such as C++, Java, or Python.

The initial payment starts at Rs. 40,000 per month and depends on the experience and qualification of the candidate. Renewal of the position depends on the performance of the candidate, which will be reviewed by a committee. The candidates may be eligible and encouraged to apply for MS/PhD in the Dept. of Computer Science and Engg., IIT Madras, under project mode upon gaining sufficient experience and completion of pre-requisite coursework.

Preferred Candidate Profile:

• The candidate should have a 4-year bachelors or a masters degree in computer science or related field.
• Demonstrable proficiency in programming, with experience in at least two languages (such as C++, Java, or Python).
• Strong foundation in data structures and algorithms (DSA), with the ability to apply them in solving computational and system-level problems.
• The candidate should possess strong analytical and problem-solving skills, and a willingness to learn and contribute to blockchain-related projects. (Prior exposure to blockchain concepts will be considered an advantage, but is not mandatory.).
